Ruth Cobos


Ruth Cobos is Associate Professor (TU) in the Department of Computer Engineering of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), where she received her PhD. in Computer Engineering in 2003. She is member of the research group "Grupo de Herramientas Interactivas Avanzadas" (GHIA) since 1998, member of the Management Committee of the eMadrid Research Network for eLearning, member of the Spanish Network of Learning Analytics (SNOLA) and member of the research group "Grupo de Excelencia Cognición y Contexto: el aprendizaje colaborativo mediado por ordenador" at University of Lleida (UdL) since 2005.

As Delegate of the Rector for Educational Technologies (2014-2016) at UAM, she directed the technical office at UAM for the generation and creation of UAM MOOCs at edX. She is the coordinator of the MOOC instructor team of the course entitled “Introducción al desarrollo de aplicaciones web” (“Introduction to the Web Applications Development”) .

She participated in the technological development of these initiatives: NeuroContigo.org and EducamosContigo.org

She received the Meritorious Service Award 2022 (e-Madrid Excellence Network) for outstanding contribution to the development conference of EDUCON - IEEE Global Engineering Education .

Her principal research areas of interest include Learning Analytics, MOOCs, e-learning, Blended Learning, Social Learning, Natural Language Processing, Sentiment Analysis, CSCL and Educational Technologies.
